Q. Why should I work with a financial advisor?
An advisor will take the emotion out of investing by maintaining an objective viewpoint to assess your current and future needs. They will construct a custom portfolio based on personal goals and objectives and then hold you accountable to stay the course. They will be there to answer your questions and modify your portfolio as life happens and things change.
Q. If I am going through a divorce, why should I use a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) ?
Lawyers attend law school to become experts in law and not to become financial experts. Financial decisions made during a divorce can impact you for a lifetime; consequently, more and more lawyers and divorcees are seeking the advice of a CDFA in order to ensure the best financial outcome possible. A CDFA can help you with issues such as:
- identifying the long term and short term effects of division of property
- understanding tax issues and integrating them into decision making
- analyzing pension and retirement plan issues
- determining if a client can afford the matrimonial home and if not what might be an affordable option
- evaluating a client’s insurance needs post divorce
- establishing assumptions for projecting inflation and rates of return
- bringing an innovative and creative approach to settling cases
- providing attorney and client with real data that shows the financial impact of any given divorce settlement
- appearing as expert witness in court, mediation and arbitration hearings
- interviewing clients to obtain financial and expense data needed
- helping clients identify post divorce financial goals
- helping clients develop post divorce budgets
- helping clients reset retirement goals
- identifying what kind of lifestyle a client can afford post divorce
- determining cost of children education
